Tinch was founded in 2024 on a simple observation: traditional gold and diamond jewellery in India often feels dated and overpriced, while the modern alternatives feel disposable. We wanted to make the third thing — fine jewellery that looks like it belongs to now, made properly enough to pass down.
What we actually do
Most of our work is custom. Someone comes to us with a shape they've fallen for, a stone they inherited, a budget, or just a feeling about what they want — and we design around it. Engagement rings, modern mangalsutras, men's diamond pieces, natural gemstone jewellery. Every piece is handcrafted at our studio in Borivali West, Mumbai.
The diamonds we specialise in
We're drawn to stones most retailers won't stock: antique cuts, old mine cuts, rose cuts, elongated fancy shapes, larger carat weights, and genuinely unusual custom cuts. Round brilliants are the safe centre of the market and we make plenty of them — but the pieces we're proudest of are the ones where someone chose a kite, a portrait cut, or an east-west setting because it looked like them.
Certification
Every diamond we sell is independently certified, with full grading for cut, colour, clarity and carat weight. Depending on the stone, certification is issued by IGI (International Gemological Institute), SGL (Solitaire Gemmological Laboratories) or GII (Gemmological Institute of India) — all independent, accredited laboratories.
The certificate that comes with your specific piece is stated on the product page and supplied with the jewellery. If you need a particular laboratory's certification — IGI is the most widely recognised internationally, which matters if you're buying from outside India or may want the piece valued abroad — tell us before you order and we'll source the stone accordingly.
All gold is BIS hallmarked, stamped with its purity, in 14K and 18K — yellow, white and rose.
Why lab-grown
Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, physically and optically identical to mined diamonds — same hardness, same brilliance, same certification standards. The difference is origin and price. That price difference is what lets our clients buy the shape and carat weight they actually wanted rather than the one they could just about afford.
We also work with natural diamonds and natural gemstones when that's what a piece calls for.
How we work
One client at a time, by appointment, at the studio or over video. You see the stones, look at certificates under a loupe, compare shapes in your hand rather than on a screen. Custom pieces take 2 to 5 weeks. Nothing is committed until you've seen and approved the design.
Every piece comes with lifetime exchange and buyback, resizing, and after-sales service — because a ring you wear every day for thirty years will need looking after, and we'd rather you brought it back to us.
