Marquise gives you more surface area per carat than any other diamond shape. A 1 ct marquise can read as large as a 1.5 ct round from above. If maximum visual size for the budget is the priority, this is the shape that delivers it — and it is the reason marquise keeps returning to fashion every few decades.

Why the tulip setting matters here

Marquise has two sharp points, and both are fragile. A plain four-prong mount leaves them exposed. The tulip head curves metal up and over each tip, protecting the two weakest spots while adding a softer, slightly vintage silhouette from the side profile. It also lifts the stone, so light reaches it from underneath.

Wearing it

Worn lengthways along the finger, marquise elongates the hand more than any other cut. Some people wear it east-west instead, set horizontally, for a more modern and less bridal look. Both work, and we can build it either way.
