Round brilliant gives maximum sparkle and is the safest choice. Oval, marquise and pear cover more surface area per carat, so they look larger and lengthen the finger. Emerald and Asscher are step cuts — clear, architectural, and unforgiving of inclusions. Cushion, princess and radiant sit between classic and structured. Old mine and antique cuts have hand-cut proportions and a warm, candlelit fire modern cutting does not reproduce.

Solitaire — one stone, nothing else. Halo — a ring of pavé around the centre, for maximum visual size. Pavé band — diamonds along the shank for continuous light. Three-stone — past, present, future. Cluster — several stones forming one centre. Toi et moi — two contrasting stones side by side. Stackable bands — designed to be worn in combination and added to over time. This is a genuine choice, not an upsell. 18K has higher gold content and a richer colour. 14K is harder and more scratch-resistant, which suits a ring worn every single day. Both are equally durable as settings. Most of our designs are offered in both, in white, yellow or rose.

• Cut quality outranks carat weight. An excellent-cut smaller stone beats a poorly cut larger one every time.
• Certification is non-negotiable. Every diamond here is IGI-certified and ships with its report.
• Think about the wedding band now. Some settings sit flush against a straight band and some need a contoured one.
